Taxi Drivers Operating Under the Cross Border Taxi Scheme Arrested for Alleged Bribery Offences
On 30 March 2026, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) arrested eight Singaporean taxi drivers aged between 47 to 74. These taxi drivers, operating under the Cross-Border Taxi Scheme, are alleged to have given bribes to avoid enforcement action against them by Malaysia law enforcement officers for driving in the bus lane along the Woodlands-Johor Bahru Causeway.
2. Investigations are ongoing against the arrested persons for alleged offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
3. Singapore adopts a strict zero-tolerance approach towards corruption. CPIB will not hesitate to take firm enforcement action against any parties involved in corrupt activities.
